FILM SKOOLIE
The Film Skoolie is a Detroit based nonprofit organization operating its mobile filmaker lab, serving k-12 youth in underserved neighborhoods throughout Detroit, taught by emerging filmakers in residence.
The FILM SKOOLIE is an opportunity for kids to learn how to create films when they don't have the resources. It will go to different underserved neighborhoods and park there for a month so the kids will be able to attend this school bus without having to drive anywhere. At the end of the month the kids will be able to showcase the film they created at a block parade.
Not only will they help impact so many kids. The FILM SKOOLIE is also an opportunity to help emerging filmmakers in residence who have recently graduated film school. They then can use this opportunity for their resume and work as a teaching artist in the program while being provided with room/board, transportation, and stipend during their 1-2 month long residence.
